TEXEL · UPDATED OCTOBER 28, 2026

A useful material starts with a closer look.

Texel helps turn a source image into material maps you can inspect, adjust and export.

Start with an image

Bring a texture photo, a texture you made, or an AI-generated image from another tool. Texel creates base color, normal, roughness, height and ambient occlusion maps in your browser. You can check the repeat, adjust the finish and inspect a lit 3D preview.

Understand the result

Derived maps are useful starting points, not scans or physical measurements. Shadows and painted details can produce false relief. Compare the individual maps with the original image and validate them in your target scene.

Examples with a clear source

Our material studies label procedural examples separately from the travertine image generated with Nano Banana 2 on October 25, 2026. The recorded workflow includes inspectable map files, settings and checksums. Loading a sample uses an existing image; it does not generate a new one.

Free tools available now

Image-to-map conversion, normal maps, seam blending, repeat inspection and PNG/ZIP downloads are free without an account. Text-to-texture AI generation is not yet open on the public site.
