Use and limitations.
Texel provides free browser-based texture tools. No account, subscription or credit purchase is required for the available tools.
What is available
You can convert an image into five material maps, choose a normal-map convention, blend opposing edges, inspect tiling and 3D previews, and download PNGs or a ZIP. AI text generation is not available in this public release. There is no paid plan or service-level commitment.
Your source images
Use images you are entitled to process. Converting an image does not change its copyright or grant rights to third-party material. You retain any rights you already hold in your source files. Labelled AI examples are provided to demonstrate a workflow; we do not promise exclusivity or a blanket commercial-use license for them.
Material accuracy
Normal, roughness, height and ambient occlusion maps are image-based estimates. They are not physical measurements. Border blending can change the image and does not guarantee an invisible repeat. Inspect the exported files in your own renderer before using them in a project.
File handling and limits
Input formats are JPG, PNG and WebP, up to 10 MB. Map workflows use a centered square working image up to 1024 × 1024; the seam checker preserves the original proportions with a longest side up to 1024 pixels. These tools do not unwrap 3D models, create a metallic map or export native engine projects. Keep your own copies: selected images and generated maps are not stored in an online account.
